Classroom Management

I do not agree with the standard row seating in traditional classrooms and I believe that a U shape is much more open and allows conversations to flow and be heard.  As a facilitator I do guide the way the classroom runs but students will be able to actively participate in the planning and implementing of classroom management. This makes the learning environment more communal and allows for students to have their voices heard. I do have the right to address misbehavior in the classroom so that I can create a safe environment for others to learn in. But I do not see a reason for punishing a student. I believe that a situation can be dissolved through parental involvement as well as just speaking to the student so they are allowed their voice. A student has the ability to change their actions and I see no reason in leaving a student behind solely because they are acting out in the classroom. If all else fails I think that administrative involvement is the final solution but by having an immediate response while being fair should the impression that I care about class management.  But by allowing students to know my expectations while being fair will help in create an environment where a student can learn behavior.
